The Drummer Boy
So, I finally met Ian today! Good times. He stopped by the “day job” and we chatted a bit about life & crap before I handed over the tape I made at that rehearsal studio. So, now those 4 songs are in Ian’s hands to listen to and create some craziness on the drums! Very exciting. I’m so anxious to see what he comes up with. He also knows a few guitarists to recommend for me to use! Again, this is all quite glorious.
Now that I have the drummer working on the songs, I think it’s time to hit the studio and start working on a song I think I’d like to record with just vocals and piano. “Everything is Green” is one of the first songs I ever wrote and it’s still one of my favorites. I’ve already recorded it in Tulsa at Wolf Den Studios, but was so disappointed with the outcome. Like I’ve said, the producer at that studio knew nothing about music and specialized in rap and R&B, which my music certainly is NOT. So, it posed quite the challenge when trying to collaborate to transfer “everything is green” from my head to a CD. The outcome–everything is green, R&B style.
I think it will be a good song to start with to get a feel for the studio and it’s also a song where I don’t need Ian yet, nor do I plan on using any other instruments. I may get Kelli to come down and throw some acoustic guitar on it, but that would be about all.
Oh, and in other news, I may very well be going to the American Idol auditions in a week. We’ll see. Wish me some broken legs. ‘Till next time!
